The Complex Texts project of my Book Design masters required the design of six classical texts. Including novels, plays, and poetry, the series design had to be robust enough to accommodate the different information structures in each type of book. The goals were to successfully research my chosen market, develop a house style for typographic detail, produce the six books, and to write a type spec detailing all of the design decisions made.

By designing and implementing a system that addresses all macro and micro typography needs, I created six books that act as parts of a unified whole. Choosing to design for the low-end of the market, my titles are economical in size and the design decisions were made with this market's requirements in mind. However, thinking about my own reading practice I wanted to make sure there was enough margin to annotate the book.
